Description:
Lead a team of more junior engineers in the engineering delivery of projects to time, cost and quality, or in the management of small projects, and in addition support the discipline manager in aspects of running the department
Lead functional input to own projects, including where relevant leading the input of other (possibly multidisciplinary) engineers and subcontractors, to ensure engineering delivery meets scope, time, cost and quality
Proactively generate value adding options within projects to offer to clients to improve both the chance of winning work and satisfaction with completed and ongoing work
Manage subcontracts to ensure cost effective, timely delivery.
Check and approve the work of more junior staff to eliminate errors and sub-optimal work
Generate and check engineering estimates and execution strategies to provide optimal solutions and eliminate errors
Establish and maintain technical standards to support quality engineering delivery
Provide functional support and guidance to more junior staff to develop both them as individuals and the capability of the team as a whole
Keep abreast of current technology so that technical input to projects takes account of new developments
Support the engineering manager in non project based activities such as writing procedures, resource planning, establishing policy, budgeting, recruitment etc, to support the drive to continuously improve and optimise the operation of the department
Essential Skills & Knowledge required to do this job
Professionally qualified (eg Chartered) Engineer
Substantial relevant experience, typically at least 10 years of experience in relevant project design work
Team leadership capability
Excellent technical skills
Site based experience
Competent in project management
Commercial awareness

Salary for this position will be between £35 and £55K depending on skills and experience, a car allowance of £5500 per annum with single person BUPA cover . 25 days holiday plus 8 statutory days and a defined contributions pension scheme where the company will match your pension contributions up to 12% of your monthly salary.

Temporary Works Engineer wanted on A421 J13/M1 Highways Project

Background
Our client is one of the leading civil engineering companies in the UK and they are currently Looking for a Temporary Works Engineer for their £170 million roads project in Bedfordshire
The A421 is part of the strategic link between the M1 and the A1.
The A421 is part of the important east-west (Oxford via Milton Keynes via Bedford via Cambridge) route corridor. It lies within the Marston Vale which has been designated by the Bedfordshire Structure Plan as both a strategic growth corridor and an area of economic and environmental regeneration.
The existing A421 is single carriageway with a short length of dual carriageway. traffic flows are expected to rise from 25,000 to 65,000 vehicles per day by 2026. The high traffic flows result in severe congestion, unreliable journey times, a poor accident record and a reduction in the quality of life for local residents
The M1 at junction 13 will be remodelled and a 8 mile dual carriageway will be built and link the M1 with the existing ring road to South Bedford at the A6.
Two new separated Interchanges will be built

The project will also involve bridge widening over the Bedford-Bletchley and Mainline railway lines, and building several smaller road and bridleway bridges.
The Temporary Works Engineer will work on this civil highway and rail based project.
The Temporary Works Engineer will be looking after the temporary works on site, managing the installation project after reading the designs and drawings.
The Temporary Works Engineer will communicate with the design team to advise on potential site problems, issues and any possible restrictions
Work will include excavations, earthworks, crane bases / supports, sheet piling and scaffolding around rail bridges, foot bridges, pylons etc
Ideally you will be NRSWA qualified and able to demonstrate a main contracting background and be highways focused. A knowledge of dealing with local authorities including the Police will be advantageous

Due to relocation of existing programmer our client requires a PLC Programmer/Control Engineer
To programme Siemens equipment programming S7 300 series computers which are more complex than S7 200 series programmes. All the S7 300 software is networked.
The job will involve programming/setting up/maintenance of and improvement of programmes. Once a week you will attend a progress meeting with the maintenance team.
Ideally you should have experience of ASI Networks/Profibus & Ethernet Networks & HMI (Human Machine Interfaces)
You are most likely to have worked in the Automotive Industry on either Siemens/Allen-Bradley,ABB or Mitsubishi equipment
Candidate should be computer literate, good interpersonal skills to liaise with maintenance departments
Hours of work are from 7.15-3.45 Monday to Thursday and 7.15 to 12.45 on Friday

My client is a civil engineering contractor working throughout the UK undertaking all kinds of infrastructure projects from bridge to marine construction.
They have proven and extensive civil engineering and project management skills, delivering engineering solutions from minor works through to major infrastructure projects.
They require an experienced Bridgeworks Agent to make an impact on a number of high profile regional projects.
Due to the nature of the project we are looking for candidates who have worked for either Network Rail or other companies on Network Rail projects. The candidates must be track aware and will be working next to live rail so must be aware of the H&S issues associated.
Candidates with current PTS cards would be ideal but all relevant courses required will be arranged on appointment of position.
Specific bridge works experience may include:
Demolition of existing structures, construction of new over bridges, pre-cast pre-stressed concrete beams and parapets, construction of underbridge, pre cast reinforced concrete box units, longitudinal stressing
